Dear Members and Newfy lovers,
The past months have not been easy for the provisional board, but perseverance rewards and finally the new website can be presented. The old Internet site, which was managed by a friend of the former club treasurer, was never closed down in spite of repeated requests from the Board. The result was that potential new Newf-fanciers and potential puppy buyers were directed to one particular kennel while other breeders received few inquiries and puppy requests.
Due to this refusal to close down the old website, the provisional board was not able to communicate with the membership. Rumors where spread by those who had a profit motive in manipulating the membership and discouraging breeders and to cause disharmony between members.
The goal of the club is to unite people with a common interest and passion for the Newfoundland dog. We cannot tolerate board members who abuse their position to further their own commercial purposes.
The honesty and integrity of the former treasurer has been called into question not only within the club but in newspaper articles and broadcast as well. As the news spread at an amazing speed there was a massive protest of members and Newf-fanciers from all over the world. The President, Vice-president and Secretary had to respond to this as a result of the wide spread indignation and decided to dismiss the treasurer at the next general member meeting.
Shortly after the dismissal the President received the resignation letter of the treasurer. The Secretary submitted a letter of resignation at the same time. As of today however, the Secretary refuses to return all properties of the club, including among other things membership cards are not etc. for hands. After transferring the financial accounts and cash to Gyselinck Brigitte who was appointed to take over the treasury as a temporary board member it became clear that are accounting discrepancies and some deposits were not made to the BNFC account. This has caused the Club to be very careful in making decisions regarding the expenditure of monies. The result is that the BNFC wants to secure its future and for the time being can only make essential expenses. The club match had to be delayed as the former board cancelled the accommodation without notifying the provisional board. The club event will happen in the month of December and is now priority as we want to protect the C.A.C. for the coming three years. Nobody can deny that such organization costs pennies and hopefully all members will agree. A registration form will soon be available for download on the Internet. In spite of all the obstacles we hope to welcome all Newf-fanciers and breeders to the annual event. Members whom have no Internet access and could not be helped by third parties to attain a registration form may call the board and an application form will be quickly mailed out. From now on all payments will be deposited into the account of the BNFC and an open accounting will be used.
Hopefully this letter explains all the questions and refutes all rumors.
With sport-loving greetings
The Provisional Board of the BNFC.
